Martell Petermann – track

 MARTELL PETERMANN Obituary

MARTELL LEWIS PETERMANN He will be remembered as a very caring and fun-spirited individual, an amazing athlete, and a wonderful storyteller. In his early years, he worked on the family farm while exceling in football and track, and then graduated from Kennewick High School in 1972. Martell attended the University of Texas in Austin on a track (javelin) scholarship and graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management.

Hi, and with apologies, I am just seeing this now. I was a team mate of Marty’s at UT in Austin. Oddly, I woke up last night thinking about him so Googled him today and was very sad to hear this news. I was Marty’s friend as well as his team mate. In my mind Marty was just a good guy – funny, kind, warm and loyal. He won the South West Conference javelin one year, and I think it was his crowing achievement as an athlete. Certainly his win helped Texas win another conference title. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I am a Canadian and there were lots of Canadians at UT during our time there. I know the others will be sad by this news too. Marty was a good person and, though I have not seen him in years, I will miss him.
