Coach Allison

Dear Horns,

Finding research material for the history of Longhorn tennis during Coach Allison’s years went from sparse to plentiful last week.  Coach Allison left all his correspondence and more to the Stark Center. Some of the content quite frankly would embarrass some of the players and their families if made public.

My goal is not to embarrass anyone but to capture Allison’s years as a bridge builder for UT tennis and to help readers to understand the recruiting restraints Allison struggled with during his era.

Last week I researched the first half of Allison’s years as tennis Coach.  There will be a more information added next week.

I have placed “Allison” in the navigation tool at https://texaslsn.org for each of you to have easy access. “Allison” will be removed from the navigation tool on Monday morning because the site still needs lots of work.

I have temporarily divided Allison’s archival information as follows :

·        Recruiting letters;

·        Correspondence supporting his  players;

·        Summer tennis  correspondence ( please give me your thoughts on this correspondence )  There are some really irresponsible actions in this section by some Longhorns during summer tournaments . I may just delete all of it. In the meantime,  I used a lot of white-out to protect names and dates;

·        Snyder and Allison correspondence; and

·        Correspondence from Allison to parents and players

Respectfully,

Billy Dale
