In 2016, two former Longhorn football players and one former Longhorn manager began the complicated process of creating a Longhorn historical website, a twice-monthly Longhorn newsletter, and a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization.

The process is now complete, and for the first time in the history of college sports, Longhorns lead the way in creating a compassionate, historical, and educational site that supports all former qualifying Longhorns.

The TLSN’s (Texas Legacy Support Network) website converts UT history, UT traditions, UT legacies, UT culture, individual records, photos, insightful comments, and personal commentary from former athletes, trainers, managers, and coaches into a form that all Longhorns can celebrate.

The twice-monthly TLSN newsletter focus’ on building bridges to the past. Reminding all that many Longhorns have written chapters in the history of Longhorn sports, and each chapter enhances Longhorn heritage and traditions.

TLSN’s 501 (c) (3) offers temporary financial assistance to qualifying former student-athletes, managers, trainers, and their immediate families. TLSN is presently assisting two former Longhorn student-athletes.

But TLSN still needs new ideas and creative individuals who can move the TLSN mission forward. In that regard, the Board of Directors is proud to introduce Spanky Stephens as the newest member to the TLSN Board. In 2020 TLSN will add three more members to the Board. If you are a former Longhorn student-athlete, manager, trainer, or Coach, you qualify for consideration to the Board of Directors. (No Board member receives compensation) If interested in knowing more about the qualifiers necessary to be a TLSN Board member, please email me at williamdale@msn.com
