All American Loyd Wainscott passed away in December of 2010. His wife, Barbara Wainscott, shares a story on the TLSN website discussing all the facets of how the Longhorn team bond helped her during the last two years of Loyd’s life. In the article, she says, “ A friend walked over to me during the reception and said, “Do you realize what this is? It is a Who’s Who of Texas athletics.” “I took a moment to scan the room.” Indeed it was”. “It was The Network. “ Her article captures the essence of the TLSN mission. Hondo Crouch was the first Southwest Conference Champion and two-time all-American in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. He was also the Mayor of Luckenbach, Texas, and a special friend of the author James Michener.

Mike Sweeney lost in WWII – Horns up

A section has been added to remember former Longhorn student-athletes lost too soon in WWI and WWII. The list includes Mike Sweeney, Skippy Browning, Chal Daniel, Pete Edmond, Louis Jordan, Coach Chevigny, and Morris Williams. If others need to be added, please email me at williamdale@msn.com and TLSN will remember their service to our country.

There are updates on the TLSN website about former Longhorn Volleyball player Jackie Campbell Quispe’s son.

On 3/10/2020, TLSN wrote a check to Jackie for $4,734.62. Over the last 18 months, TLSN has issued $16,271.34 in grants to defray non-medical family expenses.
